BamaCarry Press Release on New Board Members

We are pleased to make the following announcement on 3 new board members who will be joining us immediately. Most of you know that Chuck Wright will be resigning in 2020 to focus more on his family obligations. With that said, the new additions will put us temporarily at 8 board members and back to our normal 7 once Chuck completes his duties.

The new BamaCarry board members are Beth Alcazar, Jim Harris, and Gene Piatkowski. A bio on each of the new members is shown below. We are very excited about the new additions and look forward to what they can all contribute to help move our great organization forward in the coming years. Thank you for your support of BamaCarry, and carry on!

Beth Alcazar is the author of “Women’s Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals,” associate editor of Concealed Carry Magazine, and creator of the “Pacifiers & Peacemakers” blog. Beth has enjoyed nearly two decades of teaching and working in the firearms industry. She holds degrees in language arts, education, and communication management, and uses her experience and enthusiasm to share safe and responsible firearms ownership and usage with others. Beth is certified through the NRA as a Training Counselor, Chief Range Safety Officer, and Certified Instructor for multiple disciplines. She is also a Certified Instructor through Sig Sauer Academy, ALICE Institute, DRAW School, TWAW, and I.C.E. Training, and is a USCCA Certified Instructor and Senior Training Counselor. Beth serves as the Alabama delegate for the DC Project as well as a board member of Brock’s Gap Training Center. She is also the recent winner of NRA’s Marion P. Hammer Woman of Distinction Award for 2019. Beth lives in Chelsea with her husband Sean, their 3 children, and their 112-pound German Shepard. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, shooting competitively, and baking…and she hopes that one day her AR-15 skills will be as smooth as her 7-layer cheesecake!

Jim Harris is a native Alabamian born in Cullman. He has been a member of BamaCarry since 2013 and is a member of several other pro 2nd Amendment groups. He attributes his growth in the rights movement to BamaCarry. The more he learns and the more involved he has become as his knowledge continues to grow. He looks forward to the opportunity to do more in the fight to recovering rights that have been lost.

Gene Piatkowski was born in New Jersey and started his professional career on the Engineering Staff of Bell Labs in the mid '60's. After 15 years of designing things that the public wasn't ready for, he transferred to South Central Bell (SCB) in 1979 and moved to Louisville, KY. Three years later he moved to the Birmingham area where he’s been ever since - except for a 4 year detour to Duluth, GA. He is currently single and lives in Childersburg. Over the years SCB became BellSouth and later AT&T. His experiences varied including: designing circuits, product management, inventory control and forecasting, compensation plans, technical support (premises equipment then IT), system design, development and deployment. Once officially retired, he became active in his community. He is currently the chair of the Childersburg Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, Vice Chair of the Childersburg Planning Commission and VP of the Childersburg Historical Preservation Commission…along with assisting at various BamaCarry functions. He has been a proud BamaCarry member since 2014. He enjoys shooting and use of his memberships at Hoover Tactical and the local FOP ranges often. He also enjoys photography/video production as a hobby (shot professionally back when cameras used film). While not as active as he would like, he has held a ham radio license (WA2LLU) since 1960.
